Do They Ever Leave?
Do you have grown children that live with you? Do their kids live with you too? Some people might find it a bit odd but others actually enjoy it. A recent study I conducted showed that 6 out of ten elders enjoy having their kids or grandkids living with them. They say it gives them a feeling of safety. While you may be thinking it could be overbearing, it actually relieves stress for the grandparents or parents. Think of all the things they can do for you! Dishes, trash, sweeping, folding clothes, all a thing in the past! Instead of completing these tiring tasks by yourself, they're there to help; better yet, do it for you! Are you a heavy sleeper? Have you ever thought about what you would do if someone broke in while you were in bed? Seniors aren't as agile as they once were. Having your kids around to wake up when things like this happen, is extremely beneficial. Think about what would happen if you didn't wake up? Or if you did but it was too late. Bottom line, you want them there. The only cons my elders could come up with was spending too much time together. They worry that if they all live together long enough, it could cause a growth of resentment within the household. While this is true to some extent, there are many ways around it. You don't have to spend every minute together.
You could stick to the whole family dinner idea and leave it at that. Dinner with the family once or twice a week to talk and catch up on how the week has been. All of this being said, How do you feel about it? Leave your comments below and see how other seniors feel as well. Also feel free to leave comments on how you spend time with your family. People like to learn new things to do with their loved ones.

It's a Senior Party!
Do you get tired of being at home all the time? Has your older age kept you from feeling as spunky as you used to? We spoke with many seniors that said that a place for them to hang out would be exciting! Just because you're over 60 doesn't mean you can't still have a good time! Your kids and grandkids are out enjoying the night life, why shouldn't you? Our community needs a place for seniors to congregate for social activities. Some of our readers favorites are shuffleboard, bingo, poker, dominoes, and dancing if you can believe it! Why shouldn't you have the same opportunities that young folks do? It seems like the more time that passes, the more people disregard our elders and their wants. That's just not fair. We're all people out trying to have a good time so why don't we have a place for our seniors to hang out and piddle around. Just think of
how much happier everyone would be! The stereotypical old woman would be happy instead of bitter all the time because she'd be out enjoying life in her twilight years! I say we work on this immediately and get them what they deserve! Age is just a number isn't it? Why don't they say 80 years young instead of 80 years old? Let's get this project going! Go to your local community center and ask for the events director and let's get this party started!Young People and Where Are They Headed?
It seems that the newer generations are in a constant downward spiral. The news is filled with teen drug and alcohol abuse. And they can't stick to just one drug. They have to try every one of them and we have kids dying on a daily basis out of pure ignorance. What happened to the good ol' days? When kids
chalk to compensate for cocaine? Or have they already tried that? What can we do to stop these trends and get back to the basics? Experts say kids whose parents spend more time with them, are less likely to do illegal drugs and drinking. But then they go right back and say if families put too much stress of their children, they are more likely to try stress relieving activities such as drug and alcohol abuse. Either way, our society needs to come up with something new to preoccupy kids, or who knows what's next! Local communities should put together activities for different age groups to keep them separated. Let's all try and put our best foot forward and set good examples for these young-ins!
could go outside first thing in the morning and play until the street lights came on. The simple truth is that times have changed. Nowadays, kids can't just run the streets because we have kidnappers and rapists. When you keep kids inside, they come up with new ways to pass the time. And as they get older, they start trying new things to make time go by faster. Our grandkids are over dosing on over the counter drugs, and even glue! Can you believe that? Remember when glue was used to paste crafts together? Now we have people sniffing it to get a quick high. Kids are drinking listerine to get drunk before school! What goes through their heads?! Listerine is used to clean your mouth out, not get you trashed. With all of these new trends, what should we expect next? Are they going to start snorting
